This piece was a project where the basis was to put a personal spin on a cultural mask. The culture selected was the Aztec people and they made masks not only for use but also to display to its people and future onlookers. The display mask had no functionality and was placed on stones or skulls.  

The mask has a split face with large ceremonial earrings and a feather head piece. Inspiration was taken from a celebratory mask and a mourning mask.
